Distant Thunder Rolls
Dancing in the Death of Winter

Storm Clouds c. LauraHansonReber, 2019
Distant thunder rolls
Over the winter garden
Birds take flight in turn
Expectant twigs swell
Desire does not wait for spring
Longer days birth buds
The rains come pounding
But they cannot extinguish
The light compounding
While living with death
Listen to the ancestors
Look to the mountains
Don’t abandon hope
Nor the fire of fellowship
Flowers come in time
Seasons will change you
Become the calm and the storm
You will survive this
You are the dancer
In the dour winter garden
Roll like thunder, roll.
