I was in a Toxic Relationship, with my Workplace
“You got that?” My ex yelled. His hands were balled into fists at his side. At six foot three, he towered over me. A normal person would have been afraid, but I looked up a video of George Lopez repeatedly saying, “I got this,” and showed it to him. I had grown used to this treatment, so much so that I didn’t blink when he ripped the phone from my hand and threw it across the room.

This Is What I Do When People Throw Rocks At Me
Rocks have been thrown at me for a greater part of my life. Some have been small and missed hitting me. When people don't get a reaction from me, they throw bigger rocks with a better aim. Many have been hurled at me with precision over the years. For a long time, I thought my only options were to dodge them or be crushed by them.

Blessed 33
So I woke up on the morning of February 5, 2026 and guess what and you know what I realized? It’s my 33rd birthday. Do you know what that means? Yes, technically I’m getting old, but what I couldn’t have guessed was this would be one of the best days of my life.

Lately, I'm empty
Lately, I feel an emptiness inside of me that doesn’t make any sense. I was fine a week ago and now I’m numb to the pain that I’ve been carrying around. Numb to the idea of me existing. I wish I could go to a place where I can hear happy positive thoughts and surround myself with joy. The medication I’m on doesn’t seem to work anymore. I still feel pain from existing, why am I here anyways? Merely to exist. I don’t feel like I’m making any differences being here.

Thoughts on Vocal and the way the world is
"Death cannot stop true love, only delay it." – Wesley in The Princess Bride. I decided to come back to Vocal on a very cold and dark night at the end of December. I had been, and still am, convalescing from a horrible staph infection that had gone misdiagnosed for months. This, paired with the increasing challenges of being healthy, making the best choices for my co-parented child, being a wife, and being a director at a new job, was a lot to manage.

Women History Month Celebrates: Ashley Bookashy
Nearly five years ago I started working at my current job and in the mornings when I first got there a girl in a red Kia parked next to me every morning. As this went on the first few months on the job we started interacting and joking about how we kept parking next to each other, but in time this great woman would end up being my best friend.

Psychology-Based Solutions To Avoid Repeating Past Relationship Mistakes
The first step towards stopping the repetitive relationship mistakes is to reflect honestly with oneself. In many cases, people subconsciously repeat certain actions, which are formed under the influence of the past experience, upbringing or, unprocessed traumas. Psychologist Carl Jung stressed the importance of being conscious to the patterns of the unconsciousness as a way of growing personally. Determining triggers, habitual reactions, and conflict themes, people can have a clear understanding of what makes relationships fail. These patterns can be clarified by journaling or therapy, or by guided introspection, so that the partners realize why they respond in a particular manner, and so they will not inadvertently recreate destructive patterns. The initial step to planned change is consciousness.

Society Pressured Me Into an Abusive Relationship. Content Warning.
Women ‘expire’ once they reach 30, or at least that’s what society wants us to believe. Magazines print articles about how women in their 30s shouldn’t do certain things, like wear fashionable clothes or makeup. Glitter at 30? Out of the question.

Word of the Day: 黄金雀
I am of mixed minds right now. I had this one guy I thought was cute and sweet. I was all confused because he was ghosting me and shit. He made me all sentimental and I was like a little lamb, but now there is this.......... really super hot guy talking to me. But he isn't just hot, we actually vibe a lot more too? I mean, I haven't met him in person so it might be just a text thing. Like, even though I am very excited, I calm myself down always and try not to lose myself in the delulu.

She Doesn’t Even Go Here
Outcast, aberrant, different. That’s me… I never quite fit in anywhere. Not in school, not in social situations, or any environment for that matter. I was everybody’s friend, but no one‘s best friend. Good at a lot of things, great at nothing. Jack of all trades, master of none.

The Art of Starting Over
Starting over is rarely glamorous. It doesn’t always come with a motivational soundtrack or a perfectly filtered sunrise. More often, it arrives quietly — after a failure, a heartbreak, a job loss, a move to a new city, or even a silent realization that the life you built no longer feels like yours.

My Voice Is Back
There was a strange silence in my account for a while. Not the peaceful kind. The heavy kind. It was the kind of silence that lingers in the background, even when everything else looks normal. The stories were still there. The platform was still moving. People were still writing, sharing, reacting. But for me, something essential had paused. A part of my participation had been quietly switched off.
