Teaching Abroad Forced Me to Unlearn the Lies I Grew Up With
Editor's Note Teaching abroad didn’t give me answers — it stripped away beliefs I didn’t know I was carrying. This essay traces how living overseas challenged my ideas of normalcy, worth, and identity, and how unlearning those ideas made room for something softer and more human.

Asylum
It takes a genius writer with a twisted world view point to create a show such as "Asylum" on the British Broadcast corporation. It was a 3 episode mini series and it is about asylum seekers and how they take asylum in a government building somewhere in London. Who would have thought that you could find humor in such a sensitive subject but the writers have been able to do it with success. It was a drama and a comedy with an audience and a laugh track. Asylum is one of those shows that leave you not knowing where you stand.

Keeping up Appearances
One saturday night i was watching PBS for their British comedy show block that they used to air and I discovered a great sitcom called "Keeping Up Appearances" that I grew to love and any time I saw it was on I never missed the chance to watch it. The plot is simple Hyacinth wants to be high society and goes on ridiculous hijinks and shinanigans to finally be a member of high society and drives all those crazy with her plans and schemes. The show had lasted for many seasons then went off of the air and then had been brought back for a revival in the mid 90's.

Six Flags Great Adventure
Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey is the first water park and amusement park that I had ever went to. Years later when I graduated from highschool for our senior trip six flags in Boston was one of the places on our senior trip itinerary. We went to the land of Looney Tunes at this one particular Six Flags and Six Flags was always fun the two times that i had ever went there at different locations, of course. Six Flags great adventure is known for their awesome roller coasters and they are killer coasters and everything else is cool. If you ever have the chance to go to Six Flags I suggest that you do.

Away from the Crowds in Vermont
The Burlington Earth Clock is a contemporary compass, calendar, and clock that looks like a prehistoric stone circle on the shores of Lake Champlain. If someone stands in the middle and assumes the role of gnomon—the component of a sundial that casts a shadow—the shadow cast upon the ground will tell the time. With specific stones orientated in the four primary cardinal directions, the entire circle serves as a compass. Circles for Peace, a grassroots nonprofit, produced this stone circle. By aligning with the cycles and rhythms of nature, the composition seeks to assist in discovering inner peace.
