Wash my sins away

Cleanse the bad inside of me

Wash my sins away

I cleanse my body in the sea,

Salt biting skin, a silent plea.

The waves don’t soothe, they only pull,

A restless tide, a heart too full.

The water stings, the wounds run deep,

Beneath the foam, old sorrows seep.

No gentle balm, no soft release,

The ocean swells but grants no peace.

The sky hangs grey, the wind cuts raw,

Each ripple writes what no one saw.

A sunken weight, a whispered ache,

The sea gives back what I can’t take.

I stand, I sink, I rise, I drown,

The current drags my silence down.

The salt may cleanse, but scars will stay,

The sea won’t wash my ghosts away.
