Stop, Look And Listen

Stop, look and listen,

Before you cross the street,

Hold a grown up’s hand so tight,

Small steps, careful feet,

The road is busy every day,

With cars that do not sleep.

Look to the right and left,

Then look to the right once more,

That is the Green Cross Code,

The rule we learn before,

We step from kerb to pavement safe,

From one side to the other shore.

Listen for the engines,

For traffic passing by,

A quiet car can still be near,

So use your ears and eyes,

Safety is a clever choice,

And being wise is prize.

On a motorway we never play,

It is not a place to roam,

Motorists are travelling fast,

Trying to reach home,

Big roads are for vehicles,

Not for us to comb.

Do not chase a bouncing ball,

Do not rush ahead,

Stop and think of what you learned,

Remember what was said,

Every careful step you take,

Keeps you safe instead.

Stop, look and listen,

Say the words with pride,

Share them with your family,

Keep them by your side,

Safe children grow to careful adults,

With safety as their guide
