Star of the show
First Frost Challenge
Blearily
I peek outside as
Sunâs gentle rays greet a new day.
Yesterdayâs Kodachrome vibrant scene
has fadedâŠ
overlaid with
a powdery coat.
*
Madam Sunshine
dials up her smileâŠ
a spot light on
sprinkled dainty diamonds,
glinting and sparkling on
lush lawns and Grevillea ground-cover alike.
Spiderwebs are pristine doilies of fine lace.
*
Frost!
Is that really you?
Itâs been so long!
*
Can it be true?
Creeping out for a closer look
Puffs of breath mingle with my LabradorâsâŠ
His icy backyard is an abstract canvas of doggy paw prints
Randomly crisscrossingâŠ
hither and thitherâŠ
an intricate design created in the wake of his twitching nose.
*
Mr Frost melts awayâŠ
heâll surprise me with
a longer stay, another dayâŠ
a magical wonderland to bestow.
Here amongst the gum trees, kangaroos and the odd galahâŠ
softly falling Snow is a No-showâŠ
Jack Frost is Winterâs star!
*
Recalling an Aussie frost, whilst our Spring is vibrantly springing.

Wonderful, Angie! The final stanza really stood out to me! Especially âHere amongst the gum trees, kangaroos and the odd galah⊠softly falling Snow is a No-show⊠Jack Frost is Winterâs star!â Really cast frost as a celebrity in your part of the world!
This poem is a delight, Angie! I especially loved the alliteration of sprinkled dainty diamonds. The pic is spectacular!
Beautiful imagery, I too really enjoyed the âabstractâ stanza
