I wrote this poem years ago in the midst of serving in Christian ministry. I worked for a small radio station, and problems with the transmitter affected our listening area. It was hard to stay afloat. It would have been easier just to walk away, but I continued to serve for a number of years amid difficulty.

Maybe you are serving the Lord in some capacity and wonder if it is worth it. Maybe you wonder if anyone is listening or if your efforts matter. Let me tell you they do. I hope this poem will be an encouragement to you today.

God Is Not Through

Discouraged, my heart was waxing cold

To the gift that was once a joy to hold

Call it ungrateful, but all I could see

Was an old chapter closing on me

And though I thought it was time to lay it down and walk away

Something deeper dug in its feet and began to say

"Realize the blessing that's in your hand

Realize the power of where you stand

Like film develops and the picture becomes clear

Wait and see! God is not through with you here"

I know you, too, feel ready to close the door

On what you believe you were led here for

Cause it's moving slow and without applause

Yet isn't there a need? Isn't there a cause?

If you are not the one who created this master plan

Then you cannot make the call on when you think it should end

Realize the blessing that's in your hand

Realize the power of where you stand

Like film develops and the picture becomes clear

Wait and see! God is not through with you here

Someday soon tears will roll

As one by one the purposes unfold

And smiling faces began to say

"You have touched my heart

You have touched my soul

You may not know how much

Till Heaven you'll never know"

Realize the blessing that's in your hand

Realize the power of where you stand

Like film develops and the picture becomes clear

Wait and see! God is not through with you here
