How to SCIENTIFICALLY Live Longer: The Only 3 Proven Ways to Stop Aging! This title isn’t clickbait and it surely isn’t one of those fluff articles that recommend you exercise or eat this or that to “stop aging”.

The Best Probiotic You'll Never, Ever Eat
Many of us have seen commercials for probiotics: pills containing live bacteria that are said to somehow magically improve our digestive system and make us healthier. There’s never any real explanation of why eating live bacteria is good for us — the commercials just assure us that we should go out and buy their product right now, please and thank you.

What is a Microbiome?
A decade ago, I’d never heard of a microbiome. Today, I hear about them constantly. Okay, yes, I hear a lot about microbiomes because it’s part of my job title. I’m a microbiome scientist, and I work on building computer programs to study this environment, how it interacts with our bodies, and its effects on health — or disease. But even outside my job, I see microbiomes, and the probiotics that are supposed to affect them, mentioned everywhere.

FDA Should Rescind EUA Approvals for All COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test Methods
Full disclosure. I currently work in research and development for a company which develops and sells both rapid antigen and RT-qPCR test kits and provides testing services for Covid-19. Hopefully it goes without saying that the opinions expressed here are my own and not necessarily endorsed nor shared by my employer.

What is Beta Thalassemia?
What is Beta Thalassemia? Beta-thalassemia (β-thal) is a blood-related disorder and occurs when the body cannot make enough of the protein called hemoglobin (present in red blood cells; RBCs). Due to the lack of hemoglobin in RBCs, they cannot function properly and persist for shorter periods. It occurs due to mutations in the HBB gene on chromosome 11, also inherited in an autosomal, recessive fashion. The severity of the disease depends on the nature of the mutation and the presence of mutations in one or both alleles. Sex-related bias is generally not apparent in β-thal.

Test Tube Baby : What is a Test Tube Baby?
Test Tube Baby is a term used for babies born with the help of the In-vitro Fertilisation Fertilisation techniques where the sperm and the ovum are fertilised outside of the uterus and then reimplanted at the embryo stage into the mother’s uterus to achieve a viable pregnancy. Test tube baby means a baby that has been born by IVF treatment procedure, which means that there is no difference between IVF and Test tube baby. Test Tube Baby treatment is another name for IVF treatment. The word “test tube baby” however, is a misnomer. This is because the embryo for IVF treatment doesn’t grow and develop in the test tube, but in a woman’s uterus like a natural pregnancy does. The fertilisation of ovum and sperm does not happen in a test tube either, it happens in a petri dish. This word basically came into being to denote that the fertilisation happens out of the reproductive tract, but it is not an accurate name for IVF treatment. ‘It is important to understand that babies that are conceived using IVF Treatment develop in the uterus just like naturally conceived babies.

Sorry But DNA Sequence Data Cannot Be Used to Design a Personalized Fitness or Nutrition Plan
As a practicing research microbiologist/molecular biologist it pains me to constantly be the naysayer when it comes to claims that some of my own colleagues have made and continue to make with respect to the “power” of DNA sequence data. To hear these people tell it with DNA sequence data alone we can cure virtually any disease, have perfectly optimized diets, and maintain ideal weight with minimal effort. Moreover by following our DNA optimized fitness plan we can expect to live in perfect health to the ripe old age of 300 at which point we will die peacefully in our sleep.
