Torso. Top Story - November 2021.
The day had actually been a very nice one until we found the body. The sun had been shining; perfect day for fishing, Edison had commented, and Harker had joked that it was still up for debate--Edison might scare them away with his balding mug peeking over the edge of the boat. Edison had made a sour face, but finally acquiesced, laughing with us as we three headed down to the lakeside.

i remember the day i died
i remember the day that i died. it was a normal day. it wasn’t anything where i could feel the energy of the day sway awkwardly, making me weary. i woke up a little late, went straight to work and after that went to school. it was a long day. i would clock into work at 6:30, leave work at 11 then leave for school at 12:45. it was an exhausting schedule that often made me feel overwhelmingly depressed but i always went to work and school. how depressing.

So Four Serial Killers Walk into a House...
Disclaimer: This short story contains graphic descriptions of murder. Night had fallen not too long ago, and all repairs to the car were finished today. Today—All Hallow’s Eve—is one night this town will never forget. It’s been seven years since Hudson’s Church was put into a state of fear, but only on this holiday because that’s when people get hurt. Hudson’s Church was never like other small towns because there was virtually no crime here. Sometimes the occasional teenager would joyride down the road in their parent’s car or something, but for the people who lived here, the town was perfect.

Hooks
When I heard her screaming for help, I knew I was out of time. No time to get any help or find any more useful weapons. The concept of backup is a joke in this business, so there was no sense in trying to call in the cavalry. Out here, you were all the backup that you were going to get nine times out of ten, so there was never any point in assuming that you'd have any help along for the assignment, especially this time of year. It was a funny way of doing things, sure, but a method borne from necessity rather than practicality, since there were never enough of us former-mortals-turned-guardian-angel types working for the agency.

Rocking
The waves nestled my boat like a swaddle, rocking me like a baby. I couldn’t feel anything as I lied on my back just allowing the boat to rock but not quite soothe me. The rocking damn sure couldn’t begin to touch the survivors guilt immobilizing me as all I could do was lie down and revisit each haunting memory of this morning's events.

Scarecrows
Scarecrows By A. Michael Day Hassan had paid good money to be in the boot of this car. He considered himself extremely fortunate as he felt each lurch inside the dark, cramped, trunk, as it rocked back and forth. He was no longer on the smooth tarmac of a maintained road, Hassan guessed his smugglers were driving along a dirt track. He could feel every pothole as he bounced around within his claustrophobic compartment like a ball bearing in a pinball machine. Nevertheless he was excited!
