Small and Beautiful Iftar memories I'm Finally Sharing

A Simple Ramadan moment that stayed with me longer than I expected

Some memories arrive quietly, without any grand planning, yet they stay with us with us long after the moment has passed.

This Ramadan gave me one of those small, beautiful memories that I didn't want to lose. Even though I am sharing it late, the warmth of it still sits in my heart.

Before Ramadan even begans, during Shaban, I picked up the phone and called my friend.I wanted to invite my friend for iftar before she could invite me first. It has become a little tradition between us, you can say a friendly race to see who calls first. Again this year I won. I invited her for the first weekend of Ramadan, 21st of Feb, and she laughed, accepted my invitation and immediately invited me for the second weekend. I already warned her that our day will be tight and we might be late, but the excitement was still there.

The kitchen in full action, two dishes cooking at once, spill and all

When we hosted the first weekend, both our families enjoyed a warm , lively iftar together. I was so busy preparing different dishes that I didn't take a single picture. Anyone who cooks for guests knows how tha kitchen becomes a world of its own, pot bubbling, trays going in and out of the oven, spices every where and the clock is running faster than usual. By the time everything was ready, I barely had a moment to breathe and let alone take pictures.

After we finished eating her son suddenly asked if he could take pictures of the left over food for his GCSE Photography project. I froze for a second. You can image how the kitchen looks after hours of cooking. Just imagine, completely messy, plates stacked, counters full not even counters but sink too. And believed me nothing looking "photo ready". I looked at him with a crying smiling face and thought, "why didn't you ask when every thing was beautifully arranged on the table?". But I smiled, nodded and gave him permission. Even though my heart little broke, I didn't want to disappoint him. He took pictures from different angles, focusing on textures, and the natural "after iftar" scene. I hope those photos help him in his course work.

After few days my friend shared pictures with me. The moment I saw them, I opened my laptop and started writing. I wanted to publish my story immmediately, while the memories was still fresh. But the life has other plans. I got caught up with work, home responsibilities, and preparations for up coming travel. These days have been extremely busy, and every time I tried to sit down and write, something else demands my attention. So now finally I am sharing my Ramadan Iftar memories, late but still with the same warmth.

I don't like an overloaded dinning table, so I served few on the dinning table and placed the rest on the counter. It keeps things tidy and gives every one space to enjoy the meal without feeling overwhelmed. My friend's son captured few of it and even the leftovers from different angles I would never thought of it. It made me realize that sometimes beauty appears in unexpected moments, even in the messy kitchen after a long day of cooking.

After everyone left that night, I cleaned the entire kitchen and even prepared sehri. And the next morning was my husband's flight, so the rushed continue. It felt like the weekend never paused for a second. But even in the middle of all that chaos, these little moments became memories worth keeping. They remind me that Ramadan is not only about food or gatherings, its about warmth, connection and the small acts of love we share with people around us.

Tea time, the calm that arrives after the guests settle and the kitchen chaos ends

So here I am finally posting this story before I get swept away again by travel and responsibilities. I pushed myself to finish it because memories like these deserve a place to live, even if they arrive a little late.
