Fun facts about April
April is the 4th month on our calendar is the season of spring. Hibernating small animals are waking up at this time and there are 2 celebrations that often but don’t always take place in this month. Easter is always the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox on March 21. It can arrive in late March or early to mid April. Passover is determined by the Jewish lunar calendar and like Easter can show up in either the second or 3rd month of the year. In the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers it was in the month of April when the birds, bees, and barnyard animals began coming to life as the snow on the mountain melted.

Why widows sense their deceased husband’s presence
Forst of all let me clarify my position. This article is not about seeing ghosts or spirits or hearing voices. It’s not regarding doors banging or thinking your deceased spouse is trying to make contact. I believe that once an individual’s spirit leaves his or her body, they are in eternity and don’t have permission to return to the earth. I do not negate anyone’s personal experience but share mine in order to help someone else. Let me also add that until you have walked in the shoes of an individual whose husband or wife has passed there is no way for you to understand why they feel as they do.

Cremation facts you might not be aware of
A Cremation is a method of disposal of a dead body and there are quite a few misconceptions associated with this method. Cremation dates back at least 17,000 years according to archaeological records of the Mungo Lady. These were the remains of a partly cremated female body found at Lake Mungo, Australia. Traditional funeral services have only been available for 150 years yet many people believe it is the other way around. Cremation is becoming more popular as the stigma behind it decreases with every passing year.

The information shared gave me a totally different perspective regarding this period of history. This led me to research other aspects of American slavery and the Civil War and I found out something quite interesting. The death of a spouse is different than others
There is something that sets the death of a spouse apart from all others you love who die and that is intimacy. There is a level of connecting that you don’t have with children, siblings, or other relatives. You sleep in the bed with your husband or wife for years or decades and make love with them. Side by side, skin to skin you lay each night. Your significant other knows places on your body that no one else will ever be aware of. You might shower or bathe with your spouse and do other intimate things that are not part of your relationship with other people.

The emotions connected to grieving a spouse
As I write this my husband has been dead one week and we had his service yesterday, My emotions are all over the place and I’m going with them. Up down and all around this has been a rollercoaster ride and I want off. At times I’m in shock and want to scream because my life partner of 45 years is gone. I only spent the first 17 years of my life without my late husband and that’s a lot to reflect upon.

I am now a widow
My husband passed away this week and we had been married 40 years and together 45. To say I am devasted is an understatement. This man was in my life every day for 4 decades and now I feel lost without him. I know I will make it but there are so many things that are different now that I am a widow. I feel vulnerable to situations that I did not pay attention to before. I brushed off men who flirted because I had a man, but things have changed. As I was getting into the car today I saw a neighbor with 3 other males sitting on his porch. I wondered if they knew and would they be looking at me differently?

FYI: Separating facts from myths associated with Saint Patrick's Day
March 17 is Saint Patrick's Day and considered a great day for the Irish. In America this occasion is big business with stores filled with hats, party favors, candy, napkins, plates, large shamrocks. beads and other items all in green. There are a lot of myths and folklore mixed in with the truths that are associated with the man for whom this date is observed. Lets take look at a few of them. He was born Maewyn Succat but changed his name to Patricius or Patrick which means father figure when he became a priest. He is known as the patron saint of Ireland but was actually born in Britain while it was under Roman rule. He was sent to Ireland as a missionary in later years and that is how the stories began.

The benefits of sunshine on our skin are numerous for our well-being. Direct sunlight increases feel-good endorphins and improves our mood and can lift depression. You might also have heard that the sun shining on you through a window does not offer the health benefits that are gleaned from direct contact with our brightest star. If you or someone know is homebound and unable to get outside and enjoy the daylight there is good news. Studies now indicate that you can indeed receive benefits from the sun through a window glass.

FYI: Interesting facts about early morning frost
You have no doubt seen the glistening crystals of an early morning frost but perhaps you are unaware of certain pertinent details to this magical icy mist of nature. I have always been amazed at how the sun beams down upon the frozen crystals giving them a look of shimmering diamonds sparkling on the ground. Frost is actually a thin layer of ice on a solid surface. It forms when water vapor in an above-freezing atmosphere comes in contact with a solid surface where the temperature is below freezing.

If you are a fan of old school television you have probably been watching reruns of the programs you used to enjoy. Retro, Decades, MeTV and Heroes networks run classic television shows 24/7. You can also see your favorites from years gone by on Netflix and Hulu. If you were a fan of the Friday night 90s lineup on ABC you probably enjoyed Step By Step. and the little boy with the big frame glasses named Mark. This blended family with 6 children was the 1990s version of the Brady Bunch and a popular sitcom.
