The Tale of the Troubled Teeth

My teeth were once so pearly white,

But now they ache both day and night.

Gums recede, they start to flee,

Like a bad date, they’re ditching me!

The dentist says, “Don’t you fret,

We’ll clean those gums, you’ll be all set.”

But as they scrape and as they poke,

I think, “Is this a dentist joke?”

I try to floss, I try to brush,

But my gums are giving me a hush.

“Quit the sweets!” my dentist cries,

As I glance at doughnuts with sad eyes.

Yet in this fight, I’ll find my way,

I’ll save my smile another day.

For though my gums might not be friends,

I’ll brush and floss until the end
