Thank You, Socks

Socks helped heal son's eczema

My art honoring this success @Seema

Little boy was in deep pain,

with itching skin

he scratched until blood appeared

Parents yelled,

Can’t you control yourself?”

But he is not doing it for pleasure,

the burn is making him.

His father rubbed cream on the skin,

a little, temporary relief,

but flare ups were common,

the boy was in deep agony.

One day he ate chips,

the preservatives made the itching worse,

he cries, his small limbs all bloody.

His father booked a doctor,

that is when the biologist mother says,

Enough. My son is suffering.

And soon the wallet will drain too.

Let me summon knowledge.”

She knew inflammation is the cause,

the carpet chemicals are the issue.

She advised:

the boy must wear socks always,

a barrier between

sensitive skin and carpet,

is the solution.

The father made sure,

her advice is followed.

That was last August.

It is March now.

The boy is painless,

his limbs are smooth.

he is smiling, and kind,

for the he eczema

no longer bothers him.

From time to time,

mother and son sit together,

admiring his smooth feet,

and say in gratitude,

Thank you, socks.”

Note: Eczema was hurting the son. Carpet was the culprit. Wearing socks helped the boy avoid eczema.

Wow... I was just talking to my grandson and his partner about their baby having eczema. They were putting salve on the 8-month-old baby. She is almost walking. They changed her on the carpeted floor when I was there. She had no socks on as she was scooting around. Thank you, I read your poem on her answering machine.😉💗💕
