Narcissus

Daffodils

Come outside and open your eyes

You’ll know spring is here,

Not because of the blue skies

But because of the flowers in her hair

The season's first blooms bravely peeping

Bringing the promise of wealth and luck

Along with the grass, it’s no longer sleeping

With petals the color of a freshly hatched duck

With its petals seeped into lore

The maiden fair weaves a crown

To deliver to her beau next door

Hoping he notices her new gown

Well-wrought! Easter colors: ducklings, daffodils, lillies. As for old Narcissus, his great sin was being immersed in his own reflection. The wonder he beheld in the pond would have been magnified exponentially had he only looked to the sky instead. There he might have even found Peace.

I can’t wait for spring. Indiana likes to toy with our emotions, we may see it in June

  • Oh no, poor Echo. Ostara seems like a pretty name for a girl. I might use it in the future hehehe. Loved your poem!

  • I haven't seen any here as of yet, but it shouldn't be long.
