Chasing Sunbeams

on stormy days

I’ve chased sunbeams on stormy days.

Like a cat stalking a flicker light,

round and round and round I ran.

Bouncing off walls.

Running through friends.

Tripping over their best intentions.

Crashing through life and wrestling with the devil.

Falling from grace.

All in search of those elusive magical rays

whose light and warmth, I thought would save me.

When truth be told, all I really needed

was to dance in the rain.

I have not dance in the rain in a long time. To be a kid again. The best place for a cat to fall asleep is in front of a sunbeam

What both LC & Donna said! It’s like reality and metaphor dancing together. I’m sure Vocal has little interest in my opinion, but this has Top Story written all over it!

I love the visual illusions in this poem. Well done.

  • Well-wrought! The rain soothes what the sun burns, and the sun cures us when we are waterlogged. Turn, turn, turn...

    Love the closing!!! ❤️❤️💕

  • I don't wanna chase the light or dance jn the rain. I just wanna sit in darkness and brood, lol. But since you're insisting, I'll try dancing in the rain hehehehehe. Loved your poem!
