For those of you not familiar with me, hi, my name is Rain Dayze, and I am a writer! I used to be very prolific here on Vocal for many years, but a lot of things happened that changed my life. In both good and bad ways. If you are curious about more details, please check this update I posted a while back:

https://promotion-survey.today/writers/what-s-new-x8r60p18%3C/p%3E%3C/blockquote%3E%3Cstyle data-emotion-css="14azzlx-P">.css-14azzlx-P{font-family:Droid Serif,Georgia,Times New Roman,Times,serif;font-size:1.1875rem;-webkit-letter-spacing:0.01em;-moz-letter-spacing:0.01em;-ms-letter-spacing:0.01em;letter-spacing:0.01em;line-height:1.6;color:#1A1A1A;margin-top:32px;}

Moving on, I am happy to announce that I am back on Vocal+ again. Yay! Looking back, it has been at least a few years, if not possibly longer, since I was active on this platform. The update sort of explains it more thoroughly, but I can break it down into a smaller, easier-to-follow format.

So, you might ask, why did I stop using Vocal+? Well, I have made a tentative list of the reasons.

1. I was in nursing school full-time for almost two years! That is 40+ hours of classroom instruction alone, not including clinical hours, studying, breathing, etc. With school being such a huge part of my life, I had no time to write other than for schoolwork. Super depressing, I know.

2. I was still working part-time while I was attending school! Imagine having to do all of the stuff I listed, and then having to double that into a job. It was 24 hours a week, only 3 shifts over the weekends, which I ended up keeping as a permanent rotation, but still! By the end of the day, I could barely concentrate, let alone do anything else.

3. Despite how it looks, I have a very busy, yet enriching personal life. Yes, we have our issues, but I love my husband with all my heart. Additionally, I have a new baby niece who needs spoiling, friends whom I enjoy hanging out with, fellow writers whom I collaborate with, and my fur babies who require my undying love and devotion. Sometimes, there is no time for writing.

4. Sometimes, I do not feel like writing. Time management aside, sometimes I do not want to write. At all. Yes, I am a writer at heart, and hopefully, by trade; however, if my feelings are not invested in something, I will not do it. Writing or not.

5. Finances were a big issue for a long time. School not only took most of my time, but also syphoned most of my income. Having to pay for subscriptions became a luxury, not a necessity. Especially if I was not earning enough on the platform to justify the expense.

6. Yes, the numbering is weird, do not judge me! My final reason for lack of activity is: I need to catch up on reading! Sounds stupid, right? Wrong! Reading is just as important as writing to me. While writing is a type of therapy and outlet for feelings or locked-up emotions, reading is a fun wonderland that I can get lost in. Plus, I get to support some of my favorite new indie authors, so it is a win-win!

All of the above is meant as a venting or as informational, not defamatory, so please do not take it as such. Truly, I am happy to be back and looking forward to posting things regularly again!

Cheers, y'all!

    Welcome back, Rain! Reading about your journey really hit home, I’ve also had periods where life just swallowed my writing time. It’s reassuring to see someone else balancing so much and still keeping their love for words alive.

    As a former nursing student, then nurse, then nursing instructor...I understand the pause completely. Kudos for you. I always had my students journal as part of their assignments so they could process better and I could see where their heads/hearts were in case they needed a lifeline. Writing remains how I process even 6 years out of retirement. Welcome back :)
